Bildungsnetz (Educational Network)
Since 2003 Dissens has been a network partner of the Educational Network for Gender Equality in Education and Employment Berlin (Bildungsnetz Berlin).
This network is part of a nationwide program called Lernende Regionen (Learning Regions), set up by the German government department for education and research (BMBF) and the ESF. Its aim is to change attitudes and behaviour of people through education, role models and defined learning methods in order to make diversity and equality for girls and boys a reality. Cooperation between network partners, new life styles and lifelong learning are being fostered parallel to the traditional educational sector.
Dissens has several responsibilities within this framework:
- Development and implementation of job selection courses for boys in schools with the aim to promote work in the educational or care sector.
- Development and implementation of gender sensitive seminars that also address the specific issues of male students in job training.
- Development and testing of gender sensitive pedagogical concepts for day care centres.
In addition to that, Dissens worked closely with the Catholic College for Social Welfare and Pat-Ex e.V. to produce a paper on Men in educational and care occupations, exploring the issue of what motivates (young) men to enter such occupations:
Männer
in Erziehungs- und Pflegeberufen (in German)
